User-defined fields are product data fields you define to record data outside of DolphinRTK's standard data fields: Common Name, Internal ID, Flash Point, and so on. When these standard fields don't cover all the product data you need to record, you can add a user-defined field for each type of additional required data.
Each user-defined field falls into one of two types:
Optimized for Searching fields can be searched like other product data fields (via browsing the product list, simple searching, or advanced searching), but any entry in this type of field cannot exceed 255 characters.
Long Text fields cannot be searched, but their entries can be of any length.
After a user-defined field is added, you can record one or more entries in the field for each product; see Editing a Product's User-Defined Information for details. You can also rename a field or, when it is no longer need, delete it.
